A Life's Worth

Gutted again Innocent lives Pursuing dreams Earning livelihood Meeting friends Celebrating life Seeking memories In a paradise Never meant to be Where a life's worth Was only realized In the ashes of ruins (Dedicated to all innocent lives lost due to fire in different places Mumbai city which ran without necessary permissions)

Fault Lines

Despite all these years The bitterness still lingers Hovering over the walls Erected deep and high In the confines of the mind Built over the fault lines A few drawn by you A few drawn by me A few drawn by us Lost to the path Of togetherness We once treaded

Realities of Life

Love they wrote Into sands ashore Believing it to be Etched on to their hearts Forever Unlikely to relent or buckle Under the realities of life That however fades into the oblivion When the waves come ashore

Stories

There are stories That need to be told Not because they are about Courage and valor Nor cause they speak of Heroic deeds But because they speak of Grit and determination Of lesser known people Near and around us Who turned a life less ordinary Into a extraordinary tale of If I did it, you can do it too

A Journey of Legends

Everything seems to be going perfectly fine. Everything you touch turns gold. Your commitment and dedication is taking you places. You are setting new benchmarks, winning accolades. There is nothing that seems will ever go wrong. Why would it? When you seem to be striking gold. It seems magical. Until...... Until nothing you do seems to be working fine. Your ability to strike gold suddenly seems to be fading. The magical touch seems a distant past. Though your commitment and dedication remains the same, nothing seems to be going your way. People start wondering if you were just a flash in the pan. What transcends thereafter is stuff legends are made of. It's not a easy journey back. That journey needs you to redefine your purpose. It needs you to claw your way back on a path that you have never treaded before. Give up on everything that made you and start anew. This time it's tough, for the baggage of the past weighs heavily on you however much you want to shu...

Stampede

Blinded to the world Running amok All over me I lay trapped In a heap of bodies Struggling for breath In the clutches of death Gripped by the fears Of life's worst nightmare All coming true In what seemed like eternity  Yet holding on to the same hope of life I was trampled for

You Are Not The Only One

You just stumbled upon a brilliant idea. You have to come to believe its a gem of an idea. You have a strong intuition its going to be game changer. You want to turn it into an enterprise. You are excited, since your long cherished entrepreneurial dream is now sure to see daylight. You start putting things in place in run up to your dream venture. You are fiercely protective of your idea and taking every precaution to not let it out. Somehow you believe, you are the only one ever to think about it and if you do share it with someone else, chances are - they may rob you of the idea. So you are not willing to let your guard down. And therefore are reluctant to share, discuss and deliberate the idea with anyone else. At times, even with some who might help you shape and execute the idea. The anxiety and the insecurity of loosing your baby (that too even before its been thoroughly conceived) holds you back. If this is what you have experienced and this what you still believe. Let m...

The Worst and The Best.

What's the worst thing you can possibly do in your life? Make mistakes. Do something terribly wrong. Goof up something. Be where you were not meant to be. Wrong decisions that you made. The list can go on and on. You can add to it. But to me, whatever you add to the list above never will be the worst thing your life. There is always something or the other to pick up and learn from a mistake, a goof up, a wrong choice. And they are not the worst things, because you at least did something, rather than not doing anything at all. So what then is the worst thing you can do in your life? The worst thing you can do is do nothing at all. Yes, not doing anything at all is worst mistake you can make. For  it is then you cede control of your life. You are no longer the master of your fate. Rather fate or somebody else dictates your life on their terms. So what is it that you are waiting for? Go ahead make a move. Do something. Even if it's tip toeing. Just do it. For t...

Till Someone Better Comes Along

Your product has been envy of your competitors..... Your customer service has been exceptional.... You have many firsts to your credit....You have been amongst the innovators.... You have been the one to make profits whilst others have been busy cutting corners.... Your technology has always been the talk of the town... Well that's a wonderful thing to have been doing and if you have been doing one, more or all of the above (the list though indicative, is not exhaustive) you surely must be a bellwether leading way and doing all the right things. You will definitely continue to lead the way and be a benchmark till someone better comes along. He may not be exceptional nor be amongst the firsts, but one sure to raise the bar higher, a notch better than you have been doing. Soon, you will be bound to play the catch up game. The question you need to ask yourself (better would be answer) is -  Do you wait for someone better to come along or keep raising the bar higher e...

A World Like Never Before

Every day I wake up to the dreams of A whole new world, of possibilities, That I want to make come true. For a world like never before. A world unseen, A world unexplored, Stepping up to it; Traversing new horizons Till I meet my vulnerable self Fraught with those very possibilities Of making or breaking a dream. I cry, I weep, I stumble, I fumble, Laying low on the ground Where the only thing left is, To get back on the feet And start moving forward; Aware of my vulnerabilities. Knowing that they will always be there Yet realising that, giving in Is not the way out. But never letting go Of the passion, of the belief, of the abilities, To overcome the setbacks Despite all the odds I wake up to the dreams Of new possibilities A world unseen A world unexplored A world like never before

Tears in the dark

There is no way To know (Either) which way Or how much The tears flowed In the dark of night Or in midst of the rain For how much they mattered For much they pained To lose everything That was gained Is known only to the Heart that's crying In the dark of the night Or in the midst of the rain

In Hindsight...

The year 2001. Month March. The event - 2nd Test Match of the series being played between India and Australia. With a winning streak of 16 test matches, Australia was on roll. The all conquering Australian squad had demolished the strong Indian batting line up in their first innings. To keep the momentum going Steve Waugh, the Australian Captain, invited the Saurav Ganguly led Indian team to bat again or follow on, in cricketing parlance. He stood vindicated as the India lost 4 wickets into the innings  still short by 40-50 runs of Australia's first inning total. Till then everything seemed to be going Australia's way. But, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid, the men at the crease had something else in mind. Well the rest, as they say is history. India went on to win the match and the series bringing a halt to Australia's unbeaten reign.  Steve Waugh went on to become only the third captain (and only the third match) in the history of test cricket to loose a ...

Now.....is the new then

About a year ago, the garden where I go for my daily walk was renovated and the whole layout was revamped. When reopened it became a living example of before and after. And as is the common tendency among people to resist something new, the renovated and revamped garden immediately got its fair share of detractors. Soon the beauty of the old layout became the legend and the lore. Then, it was much better. Now, the less said the better. Fortunately or unfortunately, it was the only garden in the vicinity where people could take their daily stroll. So the people had no option, but to stop complaining and move on. As the days passed and people resumed their walks, though with discontent, the surroundings began to look familiar. What was of inconvenience became adjustable. What became adjustable brought along with a new way of looking at things, doing away with the old. Soon the familiarity became the norm. As if it had always been like this. Now was soon  on its way to become th...

Once in the Reckoning

The other day I saw Saurabh Tiwari walking out to bat for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing edition of the IPL 2017. Sometime later, at the fall of second wicket in the innings, in walked Ambati Rayudu to join him at the crease. They both played a key role in Mumbai Indians win over Rising Pune Supergiant.  While Saurabh Tiwari was playing his first match of the season for Mumbai Indians, Ambati Rayudu was playing only his second match of the season for the IPL franchise. In the opposition team of Rising Pune Supergiant was Manoj Tiwari, who was lucky enough to be regular in the playing eleven. The connect? All three of them were once in the reckoning for a berth in Indian Cricket team. Rather they were considered strong and rightful contenders for a place in the national team. They did make it to the team as well. But for some reasons, the stint was not long enough for Saurabh Tiwari, Manoi Tiwari missed the bus because of injuries, while Ambati Rayudu despite an enviable ...

Elementary, dear Watson...Well, Not Quite

There's a Sherlock Holmes joke that keeps doing rounds on social media about his camping experience with Dr. Watson. The joke goes as below Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson decide to go on a camping trip. After dinner and a bottle of wine, they lay down for the night, and go to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend. "Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see." Watson replied, "I see millions of stars." "What does that tell you?" Watson pondered for a minute. "Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets." "Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo." "Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three." "Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful and that we are small and insignificant." "Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow....

Remnants of the ruins

The once strong walls Built as fortress Have grown weak now And beginning to crumble For there's little left To hold them together Cracks are deepening their grip Ripping them apart Giving a glimpse of Remnants of the ruins Soon fading away Of what once was a beautiful world

Realization

Standing there Lone by the sea Gazing at the horizon At the twilight hour With the sun setting down And the night stepping up He stood there long enough Through the night Yet again at the twilight  To see the day dawn again And night fade into the living Life discerned unto him

Walls

Are walls constructed as Boundaries to demarcate Lines and areas that should not be breached Ravines that should not be crossed Or to delineate people From crossing over From reaching out From building bridges From seeing things anew Or the way they ought to be Strange though People find it easy to scale And even worth risking life The walls constructed For they can be easily fathomed Unlike the ones The mind builds
